CREAMY TOMATO SOUP + BISCUITS

Nothing combats winter's chill better than a hot meal.....especially when that hot meal consists of homemade soup and freshly baked biscuits. Am I right, Friends?!

So when stormy weather prompted me to stay in the city for the February long weekend, I opted to crank up the heat in the kitchen and get a little bit domestic.

My efforts were surprisingly fruitful and involved NO tears! There was one batch of burnt butter and onions, but the problem was quickly rectified and the show went on without a hitch. The end result was a big batch of Creamy Tomato Soup and basic {melt-in-your-mouth} biscuits. Mmm...just remembering that meal makes my mouth water.

If you're like me and totally intimidated by the idea of making ANYTHING from scratch, then this soup is the place to start! I know this because.....

A. If I managed to whip up a delicious batch of this soup, I'm confident that you - or anyone else, for that matter - can do the same.
and
B. If I had all of the required ingredients* on hand, then chances are pretty good that you will too. Seriously, you have no idea how under-stocked my pantry and fridge usually are.

You can find this Creamy Tomato Soup recipe {and many more} in Jenna Weber's book White Jacket Required. You can also visit her blog for a print-out of this recipe.

*Note: I swapped out the whole milk for partly-skimmed milk and added a bit of flour to thicken the soup.

  1. Grilled cheese and tomato soup is my go-to I have nothing in the house meal! It's usually, no always, from a can but you have inspired me to try something new. Bookmarking this recipe, thank you!!

  2. Looks wonderfully tummy-&-soul satisfying. Your obviously flaky and light biscuits are a topnotch success story (seriously, biscuits are easy to make but not so easy to bake successfully)Way to go!

  6. I was just having this conversation with my husband about how my favorite breads are croissants and biscuits. I am due for a buttermilk biscuit. This entire meal really is right up my alley!
