It all began last year when I spotted this lovely vintage orange juice pitcher in a thrift store I frequent regularly. I fell for it right away and then I just about fell over when I saw the price tag: 80 cents!
Despite being the natural collector and curator that I am, I know can't bring everything I love home with me. That's the kind of behaviour that lands you on an episode of Hoarders or something. So, as a general rule of thumb, I try to restrain myself and purchase only the pieces that really make my heart sing!
Well, this one seemed to do just that and I knew it had to be mine.
My Dad, who shares my love of curious collectibles, seemed to agree and bought it for me as an early birthday gift.
Now, this story could end here and be quite lovely on it's own, but it's not over yet. There's more. A few weeks back I was shopping at the same thrift store - this time with my Mom - when I stumbled upon a drinking glass to match! I bought it on the spot for 20 cents. Meant to be? I'd like to think so. xo, A.

Definitely meant to be :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you agree!
Deletewhat a great story! and I love the price :)
ReplyDeleteNo complaints on the dollar price tag. Such a steal!
DeleteTHis calls for a family wide search for more of these glasses in thrift stores far and wide...will keep my eyes open here too!
ReplyDeleteI like your thinking...I think my Mom's already on the hunt to find me s'more! And thanks for keeping your eyes open for me. I really appreciate it!
DeleteI'm betting the glass will find a mate - possibly even enough to make a set of 4. I LOVE our southern Manitoba thrift stores. Sure there's lots of junk, but that makes finding these gems even more fun - add in finding them randomly one at a time. Like a scavenger hunt. :)
ReplyDeleteWe do have a lot of gems in lovely Manitoba, don't we?!
DeleteGreat find, Amy! I swear, our thrift stores never have anything less than a dollar - I'd be so excited to see something for cents!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine. You simply must come for a visit and I'll take you to all of my favourite second hand shops.
Deletehow sweet is that? you have got to love it when things like that happened. It is MEANT to be! glad you have connected the cup and the pitcher :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! Such a happy accident.
