It's Friday and I'm the mood for a wee bit o' celebration! I'd like to send you all into the weekend with a glimpse at what loving life in Winnipeg looks like me.....
There's a lot to love about The Peg - like the oodles of local eateries, artsy entertainment and vintage houseware shops...and, of course, NHL hockey season with The Jets. But, nothing beats Winnipeg's turn of the century architecture.
Winnipeg's Downtown area has been dubbed the Chicago of the North; and, it really is! The buildings pictured above (taken with my iPhone and edited in Instagram) give you just a taste of all the wonderfulness that is Downtown Winnipeg. I pass by these buildings on my way to the Kate & Birdie Paper Co. studio. Sometimes I can't believe how lucky I am to have such inspiring surroundings.

Great shots. Just yesterday in the news they were bemoaning the gorgeous old buildings in the Peg that were destroyed over the years in the name of progress ... nice to be reminded that there are still many great buildings still standing and gracing the city.
ReplyDeleteIt's so sad when beautiful buildings aren't given a chance at another life. I'm so delighted to be able to share a few of the beauties that remain.
DeleteAnd best of all, how great that you take the time to admire and take in your surroundings. Have a beautiful weekend in The Peg(what a cute nick name)!
ReplyDeleteThanks Santa. It's a lot of fun to look for beauty in the everyday...it makes each day really special.
DeleteI've never been to Winnipeg and don't know much about it so thanks for sharing a glimpse into your beautiful city. I want to see more!!!
ReplyDeleteAw...I'll be sure to give you more peeks...hopefully one of these days my instagrams will make you decide to come out for a visit ;)
DeleteGreat pics Amy! In my city the focus is less on the buildings and more on the trees and water... they are definitely the stars of the show! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you Rosa!
DeleteThat's wonderful that your city is celebrating nature. That's equally beautiful!
These are such beautiful photographs amy! You really have an eye for photography :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. That's so sweet of you to say ;) I'm glad you like these shots. xo
DeleteI have yet to visit The Peg but I hear it is rich in culture and the arts! Love the photos and the glimpse into a town I would LOVE to visit {maybe in the summer though....}
ReplyDeleteYes, you must come for a visit...and yes, you might want to schedule that for summer! LOL.
DeleteI love the Pepsi sign! :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! When I saw that beauty, I couldn't resist standing outside my car to get just the right shot.
DeleteI haven't been to Winnipeg in over a decade - too long! Your city has some beautiful architecture. One of my favourite "Canadian" experiences was seeing the World Jr Hockey. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteWorld Jr. Hockey is a pretty memorable experience! There's so many things I love about Canada. We're pretty blessed, aren't we?
