Next up...LAYOUT. Before moving any furniture into the new space, I measured up the existing space, drafted a floor plan on my laptop and started to place existing pieces that I hoped to fit into my new living quartres.
I came up with this plan, which utilized a nice chunk of my beloved furniture pieces (the platform bed, side table, dresser and chair from my previous bedroom, the white stools from my former living room, the ladder from my former bathroom and the pretty table-floor lamp I had snagged from a thrift store over the summer).

Do you use autoCAD for your floor plans?

Hi Virginia! Yes, I used AutoCAD LT for the floor plans. The software is like no other! I couldn't live (or work) without it! LOL.
ReplyDeleteHave you used the program before?
I agree, ACad's the best...and now I feel guilty because I've been meaning to layout my own floor plan...Btw, is the side table the white one with the steel x-base from your last bedroom (just wondering)
ReplyDeleteNothing random about your moving in. I'm excited to see the end result. :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous plan. Impressed with the AutoCad skills. I learned draftind pre-AutoCad and do it the old fashioned way. But I wish I had something on the computer!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the design unfolding on the blog :)
This may sound weird, but I love the way floor plans look. Lol. Helps so much when trying to put together a room.
ReplyDeletedefinitely impressed with the CAD skills...if my real life engineering firm I work for opens a winnipeg office you're in ;) (I'm in HR, so it's a shoe-in) haha
ReplyDeleteOooh...a huge thank you to all of you!
ReplyDeleteHomestilo - good eye. Yes, the table shown in plan is the white and chrome x-base table!
Mom - thanks! I def. tried to be more organize this time around (not so scatter-brained as last time!)
Barbara - ooh...if you ever get the chance to learn Computer-Aided Drafter, do it! I found manual drafting soooo tedious. AutoCAD's amazing...so fast and fun!
Erica - I'm right there with you. I'm a bit of a CAD nerd. Floor plans always look so tidy and put together!
Heather - haha...love your comment. I didn't know you worked at an Engineering firm! You should sooo get the engineers to teach you a some CAD for your home decor projects. It's really quite fun ;)
