THE NON-DIYer IN ACTION

I'm a self-proclaimed, only slightly ashamed Non-DIYer (really, it's like I have four thumbs). Well guess what? I surprised myself this lovely long weekend and worked away on some veeeerrrrry long overdue projects. The best part is that so far I've only botched ONE of them. I can't wait to spend the week sharing my labours of love with you! It will be awesome, I assure you. So stay in the know and check back here throughout the week ;)

If you're sceptical of this. Good. You should be. More than one successful DIY project in a weekend does seem a bit much for yours truly. However, I'm happy to report that this really is what happened. Honest. Want to know my secret to actually pulling this off? Okay, I'll give you a hint - it's something new in my living room...

Not sure yet? Okay...here's a closer look.

Any takers? Leave a comment if you've identified the secret weapon. Wait, scratch that. Leave a comment either way - what can I say? Comments make me smile. Cheers ;)

  3. Hehe...Kim, Baby crying is a good one ;) But I'm sorry, it's not the leafy thing. Believe it or not, I've had those beauties since my college days! Try again though ;)

  4. I'm going to guess the side table. You've painted it and found the perfect little nook for it?!

  5. I know, I know! But I have insider info, so not sure I can legally tell!? :)
Hint: It isn't one of Amy's projects, but something that "helped" her consider even doing the projects and then helped her complete them with her sanity still intact.
    HeHe.

  6. Haha...sorry Homestilo, but the table's not new either! I spiffed that up last spring!

Mom, hehe...thanks for keeping it a secret for now. You're tip was perfectly put. Hope to get a few more guesses in before I reveal the secret weapon's identity ;)

  8. I'm at a loss...everyone else's guesses were my guesses!

p.s. Can you do me a favour and recommend some great decor shops in Winnipeg? I'm heading there soon and have only shopped at the malls (and the EQ3 close to one of the malls!). I am looking for a swanky coffee table with chrome legs and a white marble top (or glass). Any ideas?

By the way, I am also definitely going to check out the shop 'These Four Walls' that you posted about before! Thanks Amy!

  9. Hey Heather. Sorry that's not it either. But great guess!

Kelly, I'm so excited to hear that you'll be coming to Winnipeg soon ;) I would love to share a few hidden and not so hidden gems with you that our lovely city has to offer. In fact, if you don't mind waiting a couple of days, I will round up some of my fav's and do a post on it! I think I'll aim for the end of the week so check back!!! And yes, def. check out These Four Walls. I'm not sure if they have any in stock right now, but they have the most gorgeous coffee and side tables. Stainless steel base (really clean lined) with a white marble top!! More suggestions on their way!

  11. Did you make those little balls from Tanya's blog?! (Dans le Townhouse)

  12. It must be your new air conditioner. What else could make you feel comfie enough to tackle any projects in this heat.

  13. Ah ha! Right you are Jackie. Such a keen eye ;) It's been such a relief to beat the heat with AC!

Rosa, I would love to say I made them, but I actually picked up the little twigs with balls at Michaels a few years back. But now you've peeked my interest...must check out this blog you speak of!

  14. Hot summer weather... you're describing a non-west coast, non-summer phenomena, Amy. We don't know what air conditioners are here so couldn't identify them even if we DID know what they were!! ;-)

Looking forward to seeing what you accomplished in your cool in temperature and cooly decorated apartment!!
