I really tried NOT to purchase this thing - I mean it's big and my living room's small. Up until now, I've been sweating it out. Who needs hot yoga when you've got a sauna for an apartment? Sometimes, though, practical must trump pretty; and, with the heat waves out here in Manitoba this summer I needed this baby to get me through the thick of it. I have no regrets over the bulky addition to my living room; and, with the help of it's man power, I took this (remember this quick makeover I featured on Style at Home?)...

ALL DRESSED IN WHITE
Thanks to everyone who took a stab at guessing the secret weapon that got me through a weekend of DIY projects! I almost thought I had you all stumped, but at the last minute (just before posting this) Jackie solved the mystery. Yes folks, you're looking at the proud new owner of a portable air conditioner!

Ohhhhhh! Love the finished result, Amy. Somehow looks even more vintage than before, but at the same time more modern and edgey.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mom!!! I am thrilled with the result too ;) I procrastinated enough, so it's nice that it turned out better than I imagined!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks fantastic. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteAww...thanks Ladies ;)
ReplyDeleteAmy! I love this. What a difference. I am really loving the two toned look lately and it works just perfectly with this piece. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine! I've been eyeing the two tone look too - but the pieces are always so expensive. I thought, why not make my own ;)
ReplyDeleteAmy, this is one of the best makeovers I've seen in a long time. Brilliant that you chose to change only the frame of the piece!
ReplyDeleteAww...thank you so much Homestilo! Your comment has me beaming ;) I appreciate your constant support of this blog. You leave the sweetest comments and I am so thankful for that!
ReplyDeleteI agree that it was a great choice to paint the frame only. It makes the drawers look like individual little pockets and really draws attention to how detailed the piece is. The way it was before, it just read as "WOOD!" and all that cuteness was lost.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving this sweet comment! That's such a great way of putting it. Many people would be horrified at the idea of painting wood like I did in this project. But as you said, it isn't detracting from the wood, it's actually celebrating it! xoxo
